Milwaukee Riverkeeper® Spring Cleanup with Silent Wake

Have you enjoyed paddling the Milwaukee river in the past? Do you like clean rivers free of pollution, trash, and debris? Would you like to make a difference? As Earth Day approaches…Giving back to the water trails is one way you can have a sense of accomplishment.

Join Silent Wake as we help clean our adopted segment of the Milwaukee River (CR-A to Waubedonia Park). We will focus our efforts on the water, and along the shoreline, while we paddle our kayaks and canoes. This is a combined mass cleanup event hosted by Milwaukee Riverkeeper. Hundreds of volunteers will span several river basins stretching from downtown Milwaukee up to Kewaskum. If you can’t make our session, please check out the other locations available.

Silent Wake can provide kayaks and paddle gear for the first 8 who request it during registration – otherwise, bring your own kayak/canoe. Please dress for the water temperature, as normal water temps are usually in the high 50’s this time of year. There may be times we will need to pull items from the riverbed – so waterproof shoes, waders, and/or waterproof gloves would be important. Please have a change of clothes and towel, either with you or in your car for after the clean up.

Cleaning supplies will be provided by Milwaukee Riverkeeper. There will be a safety briefing and a group discussion before getting on the water. Participants should have prior paddle experience to partake. Transportation from Waubedonia Park to CR-A is under development (but, will be make available). A participation T-Shirt and snacks from a local bakery will be provided (under development).
