DESCRIPTION:This is a 3 to 4 hour block of instruction for the brand new kayaker. Intended for the person who just bought a kayak\, or who is thinking about taking up the sport – we got you covered. These very basic kayaking skills provide you a better appreciation for the sport and provides a safe way to learn new skills.\nBefore hitting the water\, there will be at least an hour’s worth of classroom. If you have concerns about your physical ability\,  please read our EEC. Class size will be limited to 8\, unless otherwise noted. Bring your own kayak\, otherwise the use of Kayak\, paddle and PFD are included in the price. Some of the topics you will learn when taking this :\n\nGetting to know your gear:\nMatching the kayak for the type of water\nWearing the right clothing\nPFD fit and proper wear\nPaddle – blade types & hand position\nKayak – Anatomy and Physiology \, body position\, boat fit\n  \n\nHow to paddle correctly:\nIt’s not just using your arms when you paddle\nThe catch\, propulsion\, recovery –  how the paddle moves through the water\nForward\, Stop\, Reverse directions\nUnderstanding what a sweep stroke is\, and how it can turn your kayak\n  \n\nHow to enter/exit a kayak\, launch and land your craft from shoreline\, or from a dock.\nWays to transport your kayak – on the road and on land.\nWhat to do when you fall into the water\nTrusting your PFD\nHow to empty a flooded kayak\n  \nWisconsin State Park sticker required for entrance.\nCost – $65 per/person

SUMMARY:Pike Lake Moonlight Kayaking
DESCRIPTION:Join Silent Wake as we offer our popular annual full moon paddle series. Kayaking at night under the light of a full moon has a different feel and offers a unique experience to individuals. The locations we have chosen for this series are a safe paddle environment – meaning\, either no\, or little to no boat traffic. We do recommend participants do have previous paddling experience for these moonlight sessions.  This is a relaxed paddle speed – we paddle as a group.\nCost: $45 per outing/per person\nPackage deal: Choose all locations (based on availability) for $300\n\nLength of time: at least 2 hours on water\nDates: (Fully dependent on weather conditions)\nTime: Arrive 15 min before launch time(varies per date)\nLimited group size of 8. The moonlight paddles spaces do fill up quickly\, book early to ensure your place.\nDetails: Upon arrival\, we will provide the kayak/gear/white lights to you and get you fitted for them. If providing your own kayak and gear (same price if you provide your own gear)\, please have all items offloaded and ready to go prior to launch time. We will provide an on-shore safety briefing prior to launch. All kayaks will have a white light on at all times while on the water. DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Pike Lake State Park\, join us – as we provide our Kayak Rescue session.\nCost – $80 per person. Class size limited to 8 participants. Please dress for the water temperatures\, have a change of clothes/towel in your car. Should you need to borrow- the use of Kayak\, paddle and PFD are included in the price (please indicate this on the registration page. There are kayaks and gear for the first 8 who require these items. Touring and Sea kayaks will be required for this class – if you are uncertain if your kayak falls under this category\, give us a call – otherwise\, we can lend you our gear.\nThe Kayak Rescue session is designed for the more seasoned paddler. Kayak rescues are an exciting way to go outside your comfort level and understand a valuable survival tool. This is a 4 hour session intended for those who wish to understand how to get yourself or others back into the kayak\, while on the water. Prerequisite for this class is basic knowledge about your kayak (or previous student of either the Kickstart or the Essentials classes)\, and a wet-exit ability.\nPrior to getting on the water\, we will have shoreline topics to explore with you. After the shoreline topics\, we take our training on the water with you describing\, demonstrating\, and letting you practice and refine the new found skills.\nFor complete list of topics covered\, please refer to the Kayak Rescue skills page.\nWisconsin State Park sticker required for entry. This is a pack in/pack out State Park (no trash cans present).
