Big Cedar Lake paddle

May 4, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Big Cedar Lake is quite the location to paddle, and explore. This early season paddle may have a few power boaters on the water – we shall stay mostly out of their path (except when we launch and land). We shall head north, and stick near the shoreline, cut across the narrow channel into Gilbert Lake and then explore the natural springs (AKA the ‘Blue Hole’) which lurks within the wood line. This will be at least a four mile paddle. Because of the cooler water temps, beginner paddlers who do not have the basic paddle skills should not register.

The vegetation should be still in a dormant state – however the aviary population should be booming this time of year. Expect to see geese, ducks, and perhaps a few cranes nestled within the cat tails.

We shall be on the water for about 3 to 3 1/2 hours, after a bit of time on land going through a safety briefing, and getting to know your fellow paddlers. Historically, the weather may be in the low 50’s, but the water temperature still hovers in the upper 40’s. Please bring additional dry clothing with you – and as always, dress for the conditions. There is a porta potty on site, should there be a need to use it. Kayaks and gear are included in the price, however we require you notify us via the registration – should you need the gear.

Group size will be limited to 8.

Please also register for this to ensure there is availability.
